Schalk obtained his LLB from the University of Pretoria in 2010 with a 70% academic average and twenty-two distinctions. He then pursued his LLM the following two years specialising in Public International Law at the University of Leiden in the Netherlands.
Following his LLM he completed a three month internship at the United Nations affiliated Organisation for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons in the office of the Legal Advisor.
Back on home soil Schalk was admitted as an Advocate of the High Court of South Africa on 28 March 2013 and was called to the Bar in December 2014 after passing the Bar examinations and completing his pupillage training.
His practice areas revolve mainly around private law litigation including trial advocacy in the areas listed to the left.
Schalk regularly appears in the various divisions of the High Court and in various Magistrates Courts throughout South Africa.
