Biography
Advocate Deon Mabona practises in general civil and commercial law, with a particular focus on motion court proceedings, including urgent applications, complex dispute resolution, and advisory work. He was called to the Bar in 2025 and admitted as an Advocate of the High Court of South Africa in March 2026. He is a member of the Protea Group of Advocates and has developed experience across a broad range of matters involving commercial litigation, regulatory compliance, and governance-related disputes, acting for both private and public sector clients. His practice is complemented by a strong emphasis on written advocacy, including the preparation of pleadings and heads of argument. Since commencing practice, he has developed an active urgent court practice and has successfully obtained relief in a number of urgent matters.He practises in general civil and commercial law, with particular emphasis on administrative and regulatory law, constitutional law, mining law, labour law, property law, and commercial disputes, and maintains an interest in emerging areas including cyber law and data protection. He is regularly engaged in mining-related matters, including contractual, compliance, and regulatory disputes. He is known for his analytical rigour, disciplined approach, and clear, structured advocacy. He holds an LLB from the University of South Africa.
