Biography

Melato Adwell Makhubedu was admitted as an Advocate in 2018 and joined the Bar in 2019. He holds a LLB degree from the University of South Africa. Prior to being called to the Bar in 2018, Melato worked in the pharmaceutical wholesale industry as transport and dispatch manager for 12 years, 1985 to 1997. During 1998 to 2012, he started his own company in heavy transport logistics which operated mostly in the SADAC states.

Melato’s primary areas of practice include Administrative Law, Constitutional Law, Commercial Litigation, Criminal Law, Family Law, Immigration Law, Labour Law, and Medical Negligence Litigation. Melato is a panellist with the Arbitration Foundation of South Africa (AFSA). Melato has appeared in the Magistrates’ Court, High Courts, Labour Court, and the Supreme Court of Appeal. He also undertakes pro bono and public interest work.
